Dragon Ball Bulma by straywind Dragon Ball Bulma by straywind
I realize I never posted a photo of my Bulma costume in which I have my Dragon Ball. Time to rectify that! I purchased my Dragon Ball on eBay last year. I decided to buy the 2 star ball since that's the ball Bulma finds in her house, which prompts her to go on a quest to find the balls. The prop was super popular! I think almost as many people wanted photos of my Dragon Ball as they wanted photos of me. (^_^) It's the proper size for a Dragon Ball so it looks amazing!

I'm incredibly proud of this costume. It's a pretty simple design, but everything came together really nicely and I made the whole costume in just a few weeks. I need to figure out more costumes to make like this one especially after spending half of the year working on my Princess Peach costume. XD

This brings back memories ^^ (DB was the first manga I've ever read!)

Nice cosplay! Was this taken at Otakuthon? (I attend it every year ^^ )

Thank you! I wanted to Cosplay Bulma for so long before I finally settled on making this costume. I'm really happy with how it turned out. (^^)

I did wear this costume at Otakuthon 2012. I attend the con in 2012 and last year, but I don't think I'll be attending it again. :( Total bummer, I would love to meet you! Your costumes are awesome! If you ever come to Anime North then let me know! (^_^)b

You're welcome!

Good choice! Young Bulma was the best XD (I also thought about cosplaying her one day, but I'd rather have people cosplaying DB with me as well)

Awww, why not? I know it's probably not the best out there, but I find it really nice :)
And yes! Too bad we didn't talk to each other before! I'm always as Claire at Otakuthon XD (well, I was as Steve in 2012 :XD: ) And thank you! ^^

I have some friends who go to Anime North every year, but I heard good and bad comments about it. Since I already attend 2 cons per year (Otakon gets pretty expensive, since it's in the states), I'm not sure if I could afford a third one. I could look with those friends though and see how much it would cost.

But it'd be nice to meet you there! Maybe do a photoshoot or something ^^

I hope you get a chance to Cosplay Bulma! She's such a cool character. (^^)

Unfortunately, the two times that I went to Otakuthon I had some really bad experiences so I can't go through with attempting to attend the con again. I definitely think Otakuthon is a neat con with some really great events, but I just wasn't able to enjoy it as much as I wanted to.

It's too bad I didn't run into you previously! It would have brightened my con! I wore Rebecca to the con in 2012, but I was only in it briefly.

Anime North can be quite a mixed bag as a convention. I enjoy it because it's local, but I've been pulling back from it these last couple of years. It's not really comparable to Otakon, which is much bigger and more impressive, but it is a bigger con than Otakuthon. Anime North is really spread out, though, with events in a few close by locations. Up until last year I was a panelist on a Resident Evil panel at the con, but it's too much work to coordinate doing panels now so I've given up on it. It's really hard to say if it's 100% worth attending, but if you did one day attend the con, I hope you have a good time!

Hopefully we do cross paths one day! My friend Ammie and her bf Jay are also big Resident Evil fans and Cosplayers and I'm sure they would love to meet you too! (^_^)

(oh man, sorry for stupidly late reply, one year later...>< )

Oh really? That's really sad :( Did it have to do with the con itself or the traveling/hotel?

Aww! I'm sure I would have noticed you as Rebecca!

Yeah, that's what I've been hearing about AN. Not sure if I'll go one day, but thank you!

Yes, that would be nice! ^^ Oh, I've seen some of Ammie's work, she's really talented!

So, what are you plans for this year?

Nice to hear from you! :3

My issues with Otakuthon tended to revolve around friend drama so my problems really weren't with the con overall. I did like a lot of aspects about Otakuthon, but the hassle of the issues I had to deal with sort of made it difficult to want to go again. With the fall of the Canadian dollar, though, American cons are sort of losing their appeal just because of the cost. Maybe in the next year or two I might consider going to Otakuthon again. (^^)

Anime North is really becoming quite an overwhelming con. The full weekend badges just sold out a few days ago and the con is still 3 months away so it's a bit hard to say if AN is really worth the trouble.

I've only just started considering plans for 2015. The only American con I'll be going to this year is Colossalcon. It'll be my first time going. I'm hoping to Cosplay Dilandau from Escaflowne this year, but I'm getting the costume commissioned so I'm not 100% sure on the timeframe for that one. I'm working on a simple Bulma costume right now. Her purple dress from the DBZ Battle of the Gods movie. Just something easy to make and wear. After that I'm planning to work on Madoka's school uniform from Madoka Magica. Hopefully I can wear that to Anime North or Colossal.

I hope you've been having a nice start to 2015! Any big plans for you? I'm pretty pumped for RE Revelations 2! I just pre-ordered a boxed copy of the game. Can't wait to play it in a few weeks!

(late reply is late...please forgive me .__. )

Oh I see! Damn those friend drama...I had the same experience this year :( (not with my friend, but her with a friend of hers @__@) It can quickly ruin your con fun...I still enjoyed it, but because of that, I lost many hours I wanted to spend with my friend :/

Ah yes, it was stupidly expensive to go to Otakon this year...but I went to see my friends. To me, it's worth it. But I understand you. We'll maybe meet one year at Otakuthon!

I've heard a lot of good things about Colossalcon. I am considering going there in 2017. How did you like it?

Cool projects! :)

How did you like Revelations 2? XD

It's definitely worth it to make the trip out to a con if you can spend time with friends you really care about. I like to make the effort to go to cons because it's sometimes the only times I'll see some people during the year because of distance or busy schedules.

Friend drama is never a good thing. It just creates like a dark cloud over a potentially fun event, which is unfortunate.

Yeah, it's really too bad how expensive travelling to the US has become. It's weird to think that a couple of years ago we were sitting at parity and it seemed like the good times would never end. Now the cost of visiting the US is up over 20% with the exchange rate. It really bites. I can't see myself planning for a US con for the next year or so. I have to hope that by 2017 things have improved. I hope that you had a great time at Otakon!

I am highly considering going to Otakuthon with the way the exchange rate is. Might try for it next year if I can find travel buddies and friends to room with, but it really depends on a lot of different things. Still would be nice to see Montreal again.

I actually didn't go to Colossal. Had to cancel the trip about a month before the con because some friends backed out of the hotel room so the cost got too high. Thankfully I sold my badge and got a refund on the hotel so I didn't lose money. The Kalahari is already booked up for next year so I definitely can't try again for 2016. Maybe I'll try again in 2017. Still looks like it would be a fun time.

I really enjoyed Revelations 2. It was pretty fun to play through and I loved the new characters. Moira was really well written. Who knows what's coming next for the Resident Evil games, but at least Revelations 2 was a good entry to the franchise. I hope you enjoyed it too! Still hoping to Cosplay Moira one day, but I have no immediate plans to work on the costume.

Awesome job!! You are a perfect Bulma! The dragon ball is amazing! Always nice when you can find something that is perfect for a cosplay prop. You definitely need to do something simple and awesome like this for your next cosplay. Peach was definitely a lot of work for you.

Thanks! I tried to ask for the Dragon Ball as a birthday gift from my little brother, but when my mom found out how much it cost for what it was, she told me to buy it for myself. XD Anyway, it turned out to be well worth the money (something like $30) because it has come in handy.

I'll definitely look into working on something simple for my next costume project whenever I find inspiration. (^^)
